Request A Bet

What is Request A Bet?

Many bookmakers now have a request-a-bet feature but call it a different name like bet builder, pick-your-punt, or make-a-bet as per our table below. Bookmakers have their own names for their bet builder offers.

For example, Betfred PickYourPunt uses a simple hashtag that you can use provided you have a Betfred betting account and a Twitter handle.

How Does Request A Bet Work?

An example is a football match, let’s say Spurs v Arsenal. You’ve been looking at your bookmaker’s odds and nothing takes your fancy. So, you then might check the bet builder markets that are already priced up.

It might offer you some fancies on possible selections, e.g Kane to score in the first half, and both teams to score in the second.

You might decide you’d like to create your own bet based on the markets available, for example, you may pick Kane to score at any time, and Arsenal to score.

Bet on Twitter

Originally this type of bet began on Twitter. Followers of a particular bookmaker would have to tweet the bookmaker with the specific hashtag and the bet request.

This would be passed onto the traders and if they were prepared to offer a price, it would be added to the online bookmaker’s site. A tweet would be sent out with a link to fast-track readers to a bet slip.

You can still do it this way or you can also go to the bookmaker’s website, and see the large range of featured requests and a bet to choose from. You can also take the different options featured on-site and build your own right there and then.

Is request a bet available only on Football games?

While customers choose request-a-bet mostly on football matches, Betfred is one of the few bookmakers that allows you to bet on multiple sports. Other sports include cricket, American football, tennis, and horse racing.
